Job Summary

The Paulun Lab is currently hiring a full-time research specialist to help conduct research on human perception of materials and intuitive physics. This is an excellent position for a recent college graduate with a strong technical background a serious interest in cognitive science/neuroscience to explore the field as a possible steppingstone to graduate school. We offer a collaborative and international research environment, access to research dedicated MRI, and computational resources.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers

Compensation

The typical starting salary for this position is $44,543 - $63,697 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of relevant full-time or part-time experience
  • Strong math, statistics, and computer skills and programming experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, shell scripting)
  • Evidence of Mac, Windows, and Linux troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Machine Learning (like TensorFlow or PyTorch)
  • Research experience in cognitive neuroscience and experience conducting and/or analyzing fMRI experiments
  • Ability to multitask and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Preferred degrees and specialization areas: Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Engineering, Psychology, Physics, or Math
