Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Overview:
As a Safety Coordinator at Global Roofing Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors. You will be responsible for implementing and reinforcing safety policies and procedures to mitigate workplace hazards and promote a culture of safety excellence through coaching and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and all other applicable requirements.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to the commercial roofing industry.
  • Training and Education: Coordinate safety training classes and programs for employees and contractors, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and certification programs.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, implement corrective actions as needed, and submit inspection reports through the company application
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures. 
  • Safety Communication: Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other communication channels to promote awareness and understanding of safety-related issues and initiatives. Lead safety discussions on the jobsite and in the office. 
  • Safety Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety-related data, including incident reports, training records, and safety performance metrics.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to address potential emergencies such as falls from heights, fires, severe weather, and chemical spills.
  • Safety Culture: Promote a positive safety culture by fostering employee engagement, recognition, and participation in safety-related activities and initiatives. 
  • Safety Documentation: Proficiency in writing Site Specific Safety Plans, AHA’s, toolbox talks, stand-downs, accident/incident reports, and corrective action plans

Qualifications:

  •  OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification (minimum required)
  • Position requires a reliable vehicle for travel to project sites
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or similar professional certification (preferred).
  • OSHA 510 Construction certification (preferred)
  • Proven experience in safety coordination and safety training, preferably in the construction or roofing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices, particularly in the areas of fall protection, rigging, hazard communication, and heavy equipment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred.

Compensation:
$26 to $32/hour DOE
